"All friends on the day of Qiyamah will be enemies of one another except the God fearing." Surah Al-Zukhruf (Surah 43, Ayah 67)

"A person may struggle in the way of Allah, without ever striking a sword even once" Al-Hasan al-Basri (d 110H/728CE)

abingdon community support

Abingdon is a small town with a strong Christian faith group, Abingdon Muslims endeavour to work with the local faith groups to develop good community relationship's. The focus isn't on debating who is right or wrong but, rather focussing on the similarities and developing strong friendships based on them.

We are currently working with Richard Bittleson, Minister at Trinity Church, Abingdon, exploring simple methods of creating unity with our fellow Christian brethren.

We are also working with Rosemary Perrow, Education & Development Officer at Trinity Church, Abingdon. Providing advice with courses she is organising and also gaining lots of advice and help from her, may be a future project would be introducing an Islamic introductory programme within the local schools.

Through the grace of Allah All Mighty, Rosemary Perrow & Richard Bittleson have helped the Abingdon Muslims work with the local Church Scout/Cub Groups, who have kindly invited the Abingdon Muslims to deliver a short introductory talk on Islam. We look forward to developing this further and I pray Allah All Mighty rewards all of those souls who are helping our communities to come together.

We must take this opportunity to thank the local Trinity Church community for all of their help and support.

The Homeless in Oxfordshire

"It is not becoming of a Muslim to sleep on a full stomach whilst those around him (his neighbours) go hungry" (al-Hakim, al-Bayhaqi, at-Tabarani, & al-Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad)

An important aspect of Islam is to help the poor and needy, Abingdon Muslims promote helping the homeless, whatever their background and to raise awareness in our community, we try to focus on projects locally and internationally.

Please note, there are many Muslim brothers and sisters who are homeless frequenting homeless shelters up and down the country. We endeavour to create links with the homeless shelter organisations in Oxfordshire so that we may be able to assist any particular requirements of the homeless Muslim's in the UK. Please remember those unfortunate in your dua's.

Abingdon Muslims Insha'Allah, aim to work with the other faith groups in Abingdon by raising money, collecting food and visiting the shelters in Oxfordshire.
